- All the Gas Stations were sold out of gas.
- All Stores were sold out of bread, water, milk, and frozen pizzas.
- Bars remained open to the very last possible moment.
- Electric Generators sold faster than they could unload them from the delivery trucks.
Yet, the important stuff like:
- You could still buy Plywood to board up your windows. Sales were slow.
- There was plenty of masking tape to tape your windows available in the stores.
So I drove around on Sunday afternoon to assess the damage done. Luckily the hurricane did very little damage in my area. I saw some flooding on the side of the roads but most roads were open. I talked to a few people and most of them did not lose power to their homes. I lost power at about 8:30 am on Sunday morning which was after the storm passed. It came back on at about 12 or so. I purchased tape to tape my windows, just in case. I also had some plywood, nails and a hammer handy to deal with any broken windows. Yes I purchased a tank of fuel for my car, a loaf of bread however I did not buy anything that needed to be kept in the refrigerator or freezer. Hey the power may go out for days.
Interesting thing is I drove around my neighborhood and no one boarded up the windows nor did they put tape on the windows. In fact in my travels to Smyrna I only saw one store that took the time to tape the front windows of their store.
So here is my question:
What are these people going to do with all those generators, frozen pizzas and extra gas?
And,
If it were to be a major storm that did damage just imagine the devastation on an unprepared public.
Just sayin......
