Our Unemployment Taxes hard at work

Although I have written a few posts about the 99% Occupy people I had to write and inform you of a news cast that came on last night via main stream media.  In Philadelphia PA, the protesters were camped out in an area that the city has been planning a 50 million dollar renovation.  Most of the protesters did leave the area however there were a few of them that stayed behind but moved their tents across the street.

They did not have any permission to be there nor did they have a permit to assemble in that area from the City. So the Police proceeded to arrest the ones that insisted on staying behind.  Now whether that is right or wrong is not why I am writing this post today.  During the news interview they talked to this one person who said and I quote "I don't know how much longer I can stay because my unemployment benefits are running out soon."

So basically this Occupier is unemployed collecting benefits and instead of spending time looking for a JOB to generate income to support the family and or themselves they chose to protest....... Really?  I am speechless.

So being a curious fella, I did some google research to see what exactly these protesters stand for.  What do they what to accomplish.  I found this article posted on the Occupy Wall Street blog.  This article gives a proposed list of demands.  Now to save you the trouble of reading the entire list I will list these demands here:

  1. Repeal the Taft-Hartley Act. Unionize ALL workers immediately.
  2. Raise the minimum wage immediately to $18/hr. Create a maximum wage of $90/hr to eliminate inequality.
  3. Institute a 6 hour workday, and 6 weeks of paid vacation.
  4. Institute a moratorium on all foreclosures and layoffs immediately.
  5. Repeal racist and xenophobic English-only laws.
  6. Open the borders to all immigrants, legal or illegal. Offer immediate, unconditional amnesty, to all undocumented residents of the US.
  7. Create a single-payer, universal health care system.
  8. Pass stricter campaign finance reform laws. Ban all private donations. All campaigns will receive equal funding, provided by the taxpayers.
  9. Institute a negative income tax, and tax the very rich at rates up to 90%.
  10. Pass far stricter environmental protection and animal rights laws.
  11. Allow workers to elect their supervisors.
  12. Lower the retirement age to 55. Increase Social Security benefits.
  13. Create a 5% annual wealth tax for the very rich.
  14. Ban the private ownership of land.
  15. Make homeschooling illegal. Religious fanatics use it to feed their children propaganda.
  16. Reduce the age of majority to 16.
  17. Abolish the death penalty and life in prison. We call for the immediate release of all death row inmates from death row and transferred to regular prisons.
  18. Release all political prisoners immediately.
  19. Immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.
  20. Abolish the debt limit.
  21. Ban private gun ownership.
  22. Strengthen the separation of church and state.
  23. Immediate debt forgiveness for all.
  24. End the 'War on Drugs'.

I am not sure how to respond to this stupidity.
